Letter From the Founder
Dear Visionaries, Allies, and Architects of a Just World,
There is a kind of current that moves through a room when the right people gather with courage and purpose.
You can feel it in the pause before someone speaks a hard truth.
In the collective breath after disagreement turns into understanding.
In the moment when a fragmented effort becomes a shared strategy.
That is the work of Amzuri
My name is Kenneth Chomba, and I co-founded Amzuri with several other like minded comrades after more than a decade inside the movements eco-system we now serve. I have been the organizer sleeping on site to make a conference happen, the facilitator holding tension in rooms heavy with history. The strategist trying to imagine campaign breakthroughs while navigating spreadsheets, visas, budgets, and burnout.
I know the exhaustion of carrying both the political vision and the practical burden. I know what it means to try to build a brave space for honest engagement—only to be derailed by logistics that don’t hold the same care as the politics in the room.
Amzuri was born to change that
We are a Nairobi-based boutique built by movement people, for movements. We exist to serve the brave funders, the dedicated NGOs, the powerful coalitions, the alliances, the networks, and the grassroots movements doing the essential work of convening across difference—first here on the African continent, and increasingly across the globe.
Because Africa has always known something the world is now being forced to confront:
that our futures are intertwined, that struggle is shared, and that solidarity must be practiced with intention.
Our foundational principle is simple and radical: Solidarity across our differences is a political a strategy.
In a time when fragmentation threatens the progressive movement, we help create the conditions for genuine engagement. Engagement that honors our ambitions and one that metabolizes it into strength.
We often describe ourselves as the hive. We work steadily, often unseen, coordinating every intricate detail so that you can experience the “sweet honey” of breakthrough moments — the strategy that clicks, the coalition that solidifies, the agreement that feels earned, the team that leaves renewed rather than depleted.
We bring together two inseparable halves of powerful convening:
facilitation rooted in heart and politics, and travel & logistics grounded in precision and care.
Our Approach: Heart, Head, and Hands
We do not design cookie-cutter agendas. We curate experiences.
Our facilitation goes beyond “safe spaces” and into brave spaces — where clarity and love coexist, where conflict becomes creative, and where power is acknowledged rather than avoided. We weave art, music, storytelling, and movement into strategy because joy is not separate from justice.
We understand multilingual, multicultural rooms. We design for nuance. We create structures where every voice is not only heard, but felt.
Whether you are convening a senior leadership retreat of 15 or a dynamic coalition of 150, we fuse community organizing with design thinking techniques to deliver clarity.
And because context is everything, our work is deeply rooted in a Pan-African vision of equality and dignity. We have cultivated trusted allies across 13 countries who share our values. Together, we identify boutique, experiential, secure spaces that foster healing and honest connection — far from impersonal, transactional environments that dampen the spirit of transformation.
We handle logistics with the same political consciousness that we bring to facilitation. From visas to venue selection, from security protocols to culturally grounded hospitality, every detail is an extension of your values.
Holding Hope in a Divided World
We do not pretend the world is not afraid right now.
Authoritarianism is rising. Inequality is deepening. Movements are under pressure, and division is often manufactured to keep us from seeing one another clearly.
But we also know this: when people gather with intention, something powerful becomes possible again.
Amzuri exists because we still believe in the practice of coming together — across borders, across ideologies, across histories — to build what is needed.
Our Dream: The Movement Wellness Farm
Everything we do at Amzuri serves a larger horizon.
A substantial part of proceeds from our work go towards establishing a Movement Wellness Farm — a dedicated space for restoration, retreat, and regeneration for activists and organizers across the continent.
A place where those who hold the line for justice can lay their burdens down.
A place where strategy and stillness can coexist.
A place that reminds us that sustainability is not weakness; it is wisdom.
Our movements fight hard. They must also rest well.
This is our contribution to ensuring that the vision for justice is not only relentless, but resilient.
An Invitation for you, our allie
We invite you to explore what we offer — our facilitation ethos, our conscious travel and logistics support, our growing repository of African-centered case studies, and our emerging community of practice.
If you are seeking not just a venue, but a vessel.
Not just coordination, but care.
Not just a meeting, but a moment that shifts the arc —
We are ready to build it with you.
Let’s create the conditions where strategy deepens, trust strengthens, and collective courage expands.
With hope and determination.
Kenneth Chomba, Founder.
” We create the conditions where solidarity builds hope, conflict transforms to healing, and collective courage becomes the power to change.”
